Villa terraces stepping down to the lake at sunrise

Twenty-two keys

Every one of them opens onto the water and none of them onto a road. Rates include breakfast, the spa pools and the trails.

The rack at a glance

Rates are per night for two, breakfast included. The Crane Villa rate covers four.

1 King or twinBreakfast tray on the bed of a Kingfisher Room, lake framed in the window

Room 104

Kingfisher Room

38 m² · Sleeps 2 · King or twin

The rooms that taught us what mattered: a deep window seat over the water, a bed you sink into, and a bathroom warm underfoot before dawn.

Breakfast comes to the door on a wooden tray. Most guests never make it back out of bed before nine.

  • Window seat over the lake
  • Rain shower
  • Morning tray service
Reserve from R3 400Breakfast included
1 Emperor bedHeron Suite with fireplace, freestanding bath and a wall of mountain view

Room 207

Heron Suite

54 m² · Sleeps 2 · Emperor king

A sitting fire, a freestanding bath parked square in front of the glass, and the western jetty below. Room 207 is the one the regulars argue over.

The suites hold the last sun of the day, so the turndown team lights the fire while you are still at dinner.

  • Wood-burning fireplace
  • Bath with a view
  • Dressing room
Reserve from R4 800Breakfast included
2 BedroomsCrane Villa terrace by the lake, firepit lit among autumn trees

Room 301

Crane Villa

92 m² · Sleeps 4 · Two bedrooms

Two bedrooms, a proper lounge and a private terrace at the shoreline with its own firepit. Built for two couples, or a family that has agreed on bedtimes.

In autumn the maples turn the whole terrace amber, and the kitchen sends cinnamon buns without being asked.

  • Private lakeside terrace
  • Own firepit
  • Pantry stocked daily
Reserve from R6 500Breakfast included
Cabin, sleeps 2The Nest cabin glowing in the misty pines at golden hour

The last key

The Nest

75 m² · Sleeps 2 · King, no neighbours

A single cabin ten minutes into the pines, with a glass gable to the river mist and a fireplace of its own. No corridor, no neighbours, no reason to whisper.

Dinner can be delivered by lantern, or the Boathouse will hold a corner table. The mist does the rest.

  • Alone in the forest
  • Glass gable
  • Lantern dinner service
Reserve from R9 200Breakfast included
